Due to financial difficulties, I was not able to further my studies after completing my Form Six education. I worked as a laboratory assistant in an oil palm mill and after many years, I was promoted to Mill Manager.

My wife, Giok Ten, faced a similar situation. She had to work to support her brothers and sisters. She taught commerce at a college and later, worked as a secretary-cum-accounts clerk at a textile import firm. Our lives were mundane and we were always struggling to make ends meet.

We joined several direct-selling companies and also sold life insurance, but things did not improve. In December 1983, we were introduced to AMWAY™ and decided to try one last time.

After attending several meetings, we made up our minds to commit ourselves to the business. We qualified as Platinum in December 1985 and in February 1995 qualified Diamond.

There are many challenges in the AMWAY business. People who said we couldn’t do it did us a favour. We were determined to prove them wrong. There will always be people trying to put you down, but do not listen, do not quit. If you do, you will only prove them right. Remember: A Quitter Never Wins, A Winner Never Quits.

We are now full-time in the AMWAY business. We are doing well financially and have the freedom to do what we like. We need not report to anyone and can plan our own lives. In addition, we have travelled to many foreign cities, such as Seoul, Perth, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Beijing.

Through the AMWAY business, we have made many good friends. These are rewards money cannot buy.

Our advice to other AMWAY Business Owners: Stick with AMWAY and you will see results. Always aim high. Be sincere and trustworthy. Always follow your uplines. Never, never give up!
