We are not from well-to-do families and both of us are not highly educated. I dropped out of school after lower secondary while Beng Ewe only completed her Standard Six. However, we had dreams and aspirations, and didn’t want to settle for an ordinary life. Beng Ewe took up costume design and beauty courses locally as well as in countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. Upon returning home, she opened a costume design and beauty academy, while I chose to operate my own coffee shop.

Our lives were busy and tensed. We could be considered successful, but the results weren’t what we had desired. We lost our direction. We lived hand to mouth with no freedom and security. We had no notion what our future would be like.

Like most, Beng Ewe didn’t know much about AMWAY™ when she first started. I wasn’t supportive and opposed her signing up. Thanks to our mentor’s patience and guidance, we finally understood the true value of AMWAY and realised that the choices we make are more important than plain hard work.
