ERIC TAN & KANG HOON TIANG
Pulau Pinang
In 1980, Hoon Tiang signed up just so she could purchase its products at Distributor Price. I objected because I did not like the idea of her selling soap powder from door-to-door. At that time, she owned a boutique and I had my own business as a wholesaler for rice, sugar and fodder.
In 1984, Hoon Tiang was inspired after listening to a speech by Founders Crown Ambassador Chan Lee Sean and committed herself to building her AMWAY business. Three months later, she convinced me of the potential and feasibility of the AMWAY Sales & Marketing Plan.
Together, we set our hearts to build this business.
We encountered many challenges but by being positive and persistent in our desire for a better future for ourselves and our family, we overcame them. It was as if a load had rolled off our shoulders! Financial pressures and worries gradually disappeared.
In December 1992, I shut down my wholesale business of 26 years and worked full-time with my wife on our AMWAY business. Forging ahead, we worked with our downlines and helped them set targets.
Our AMWAY business has brought us financial security. We are able to manage our time well and have made many good friends – this is the reward for all the hard work.
Today, our children can pursue education abroad. Three of our children are AMWAY Business Owners (ABOs) and the youngest is quite proficient at taking orders and checking product deliveries.
We are strong believers in helping the less fortunate in society. We all have a part to play in building a caring society. Visiting old folks’ homes is something we do as thanksgiving.
We are constantly aiming for a higher goal. We believe that our lives are in our own hands. So, dare to dream, dare to try – dare to make something of yourselves. Success is only a step away.
