PERIASAMY P
Selangor
Periasamy started earning his own keep at the age of 17. He changed jobs frequently and each only allowed him to draw a meagre salary. At his first AMWAY™ meeting, he left halfway due to language barrier. But what little he heard intrigued him enough to ask a friend to explain the Sales & Marketing Plan to him in Tamil. Once he understood the business, the hope it offered, he did not hesitate to sign up.
“I have heard people say that they couldn’t start the business due to lack of transportation – I started with only a bicycle and lived in a rented house with broken doors. My family and I continued to live in that house for seven more years, until I qualified Emerald. You don’t need a car or a nice house to start building this business; you only need the right attitude,” says Periasamy whose ambition kept him reaching for higher goals. He knew he had to expand abroad and today, his business spans three countries: India, Malaysia and Singapore.
“You will encounter roadblocks on your journey to success. But never let them stop you. If you hit a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Instead, try to figure out how to climb over or go around it. It will definitely be worth your while. I was 28 when I first started and AMWAY was a smaller company then. Today, it is a giant. And things are getting more interesting with an increasing number of young people, who have bigger dreams and visions than I could ever imagine, joining the business,” he says.
“Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realise how close they were to success when they gave up. Never, ever quit!”
