Being an Amway Diamond is my legacy. I inherited everything from my late parents, Mr and Mrs Ho Chin Eng, who qualified as Diamonds in 2008. As the only child of already well-to-do parents, a Cambridge-educated law professor, one of the world’s leading international economic law scholars, and a sought-after legal consultant, many say I “do not need this business”. I used to feel the same way. What is so special about Amway?
My answer came during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the rest of the world was drowning, my legacy business stayed afloat and even grew, without my involvement. This finally piqued my curiosity in the Amway opportunity and in why my late parents were so committed to it. It was all about helping people live better, healthier lives. And I knew, like my late parents, that they had and I have the ability to do a lot more than pursue personal gains. It is wonderful to invest time and effort to be recognized globally as an expert in my chosen field. But it is more meaningful to invest my time and effort into changing people’s lives for the better through an opportunity that will kickstart their journey towards optimal financial and physical health.
There are two things one can do with a legacy – squander it or grow it. There are too many lives that can be improved, in too many places to count. I choose growth.
