I was managing over 100 properties at the peak of my Airbnb business. When the pandemic hit, my operation was forced to shut down. My income became zero and I absorbed losses in the six figures.
If something like this happened again, how can the outcome be different? I had worked hard, built a team, and captured a market, yet none of it mattered when the environment changed overnight. I needed something that could continue growing regardless of the external circumstances.
I chanced upon Amway when I was introduced to the nutritional breakfast. My health began to improve after taking Nutrilite supplements. As I learned more about the products, the company, and its philosophy, I realised Amway was very different.
Not everyone understood my decision. Some questioned why someone who had previously managed a large business would choose to start over with Amway. Others saw it as my fallback plan. I decided not to spend too much energy explaining myself. People saw what I had lost. I saw what I could still build.
I knew there was no turning back when I saw how the business helped the people around me. Someone who had never spoken confidently in public found their voice and presented on stage. Another eased their family’s burden with the extra income. Others rediscovered their purpose, confidence, and direction in life. I was no longer building something just for myself, I was helping others too.
One particular customer left a lasting impression. Every conversation led to more questions, comparisons, and objections. I chose to focus on understanding his needs. He later became one of my most loyal customers, and said, “I am not buying the products. I am buying the fact that you never gave up on helping me.” That taught me this: products matter, but trust matters more.
Back then, success was mainly about earning more and creating a better life for my family. Today, I believe growth matters more, and helping others succeed is what allows us to go further. When I see someone gain confidence, improve their health, or create a better future for their family, that satisfaction runs deeper than any number on a report.
I have experienced both business success and major loss. The latter taught me how fragile success can be when it depends entirely on external conditions. What I am building today is different. It is built on people, trust, and personal growth. Amway gave me the opportunity to get back up and a reason to keep moving forward.
