Founders Double Diamond
SHAHRUL FAHMEE ABDULLAH & MAZLIATUL MOKHTAR
Pulau Pinang
I used to own a restaurant, while Mazliatul ran a small business selling nasi lemak. Our paths crossed in 2007, and we got married. The F&B industry can be brutal, thus we were struggling to support our family.
I was inspired by how my parents grew their Amway businesses and achieved great success. The desire to provide more for our family pushed us to start our own. In 2008, we achieved Silver Producer while managing our Amway business part-time. By 2009, we achieved Platinum, followed by Ruby and Founders Platinum in 2012. We continue to climb the ranks as time passed, ultimately reaching Founders Diamond in 2017.
The initial phase was anything but easy. However, witnessing my father’s transformation from a humble postman to a successful leader motivated me to persevere. We often sat down with him for “post-mortem” sessions to discuss what worked and whether we were on the right track. His words of wisdom, “Do not think about what will happen tomorrow, but think of what’s to be done tomorrow,” remains our guiding principle.
It feels odd to admit it, but it was both challenging and exciting to be in a healthy competition with my father’s Amway business. It was always on our mind that our own business would surpass his. I’m quite sure as a parent, he secretly wished for that as well.
Many asked us for the secret to our success, and we tell them to focus on the next step instead of worrying about what might happen. Success in this business is all about relationships, where 90% of your time is spent building a relationship with your customers and peers, while the remainder is on the business itself.
I am a proud family man who built his own home, can fly his family first class to any country, and own a Range Rover, Porsche, and two Mercedes C-class cars. Best of all, we can spend time with our children, watch them grow, and experience life with them.
We will continue to push boundaries in our Amway business, hoping to join the Founder’s Council and build an empire with 50 diamonds in our group by 2026. Even though it’s no small feat, Amway leaders are not ones to aspire for minor achievements.
We also feel blessed to be able to support and help other young ABOs grow their businesses and achieve their dreams. Young ABOs who seek success should stay focused if they’re serious about growing their business. There are no shortcuts in life; if you want great things in life, then you must be prepared to invest in your own Amway journey.
For our young ABOs, we advise that you work closely with Amway staff and treat them as you would your uplines. More than anyone, these are the people who would like to see you succeed in your business, and you need all the help and allies you can find to succeed in this journey.
"Do not think about what will happen tomorrow, but think of what’s to be done tomorrow."
