We met our sponsor at a friend’s house in Pulau Pinang in September 1998. He wanted to visit us to share the AMWAY Business Opportunity.
Even before AMWAY, we led comfortable lives. Our incomes as a manager and director respectively in multinational companies were sufficient. Deep down, however, we were worried about the recession in the late 90s. So I told myself, “There’s no harm in trying. It could be my destiny. I’ve nothing to lose and a lot to gain.”
We started in 1998 with RM300 worth of products for our use and for demos. Our first month’s bonus was 3%, which amounted to a small sum of RM33.67. But we were convinced the numbers would grow if we doubled our efforts. Eight months after joining, we qualified as Silver Producers.
We couldn’t spend too much time with our sons, aged 4, 6, 9 and 11, but thankfully they understood that we were doing it for their future. It made us more determined to succeed. Eventually our sacrifice paid off and we were able to provide for their studies without needing to apply for scholarships or loans.
There were many challenges, especially from prospects who did not understand the business’ potential. We had been chased away, met with locked gates even though we had made appointments. But we took everything in stride and soldiered on.
There are ups and downs in any business; we used ours to springboard to higher levels and bigger achievements. We qualified as Founders Emerald in August 2008 and as Diamond in February 2012.
Rejection is part and parcel of this business. We have made many friends and acquaintances from all around Malaysia. They are positive thinkers who motivate us to excel.
We also appreciate the financial security the business provides. Most importantly, we relish the happiness that stems from helping others live better lives through this business opportunity. Many of our friends in our group are benefiting from better quality lifestyles and living.
