K L LIM & SHALLY TAN
Selangor
I first started my AMWAY™ business in 1980 while waiting for my examination result. Due to my family’s financial constraint, my dream of studying abroad was shattered. The only option available to me was to work hard and save enough money to further my studies.
Within seven months, I hit 21% and qualified as Platinum in 13 months. I met Shally, an accounts clerk then, at an AMWAY meeting. Although shy, she too was determined to succeed in her AMWAY business.
Inexperienced and without many friends, we faced many challenges and objections. Despite this, we continued with relentless effort to succeed.
To improve our financial status, I joined a pharmaceutical company in 1983 and achieved consistent career development for almost 16 years until reaching the top management position. After we were married, I gradually began to commit all my time to my pharmaceutical career.
Reluctantly I stayed away from AMWAY activities before finally deciding to quit the business. Shally resigned from her job when our third child was three years old to become a full-time mother and part-time beautician.
One day, as she was reminiscing our memorable moments in AMWAY and was looking forward to purchasing some AMWAY products for our own use, I encouraged her to sign up again.
Shally’s friends responded positively by ordering products from her. This gave her the motivation to build her AMWAY business. Shally qualified as a Platinum on her own effort within six months.
Our financial situation improved but for many years I was unable to spend much time with my family. In 1998, I resigned from my top management position and returned to building our AMWAY business for long-term financial security and personal freedom.
We have made many new friends and have the opportunity to help others achieve their dreams through this business.
If you’re still searching for the right business opportunity, our success in the second attempt could perhaps serve as inspiration for you. You may not have to go full-time from the start, but you must approach the building of your business with commitment and determination.
