Executive Diamond
ABEL ISKANDAR & ROSHNI AZIZ
Kuala Lumpur
With a degree in Civil Engineering and Computer Science respectively, Abel and Roshni began their career paths as young officers in the army in 1986. After leaving the military, Roshni embarked on a career for an IT corporation while Abel pursued his career as a professional in the construction industry. Signing up as an ABO was the last thing on their minds.
However, logic won over. The business, the workable plan, potential rewards and support of a committed team seemed worth investigating.
“After getting the facts it’d have been silly if we did not at least try,” says Abel. “Looking back, 5 years of discretionary time invested to buy us financial freedom was a real good deal!”
Their business has not been without its challenges, however they realised that when you find the right people, and with the right support, there isn’t much that will stop anyone from succeeding. Having owned a regular business, Roshni laughs when prospects say “but this isn’t a real business”. “Actually they are right: in a real business you have real financial, staff and customer problems.”
Seeing the freedom and quality of life of the Diamond, they decided to get serious, achieving their Emerald pin in 1997. Since then Roshni has “happily” gotten rid of her computer business and has been able to enjoy the travelling and the freedom from stress. Abel has resigned from the rat race as well, and enjoys being a full-time parent for their children.
The small sacrifices to build this business have paid off, giving them freedom which has allowed them “family fun” like horse riding several times a week. They have also travelled to many parts of the world with their children. They are living their dream, having fun and most of all, leading a life of significance, as they know that they’re helping others do the same.
