In 1973, when I was 25 years old, I worked in Indonesia as a timberland manager. It was quite a well-paid job. I thought that as long as I worked hard and the boss held me in high esteem, I would have a bright future.
When the timber industry suffered from the 1981 financial crisis, I was laid off. I found out then employment is without security. I started my own business, operating three canteens at construction sites. Business was brisk but too time consuming. My day began at 6 a.m. and ended only at midnight.
Shortage of manpower left me overworked and stressed out. I decided finally to call it quits. Living from hand to mouth is not a good idea. Even starting a conventional business does not promise any security.
In October 1985, I met my “lucky star”. He introduced me to AMWAY and I signed up immediately. Back then, I had never heard of the AMWAY Business Opportunity or witnessed a product demonstration.
Signing up and becoming successful are two different stories. To succeed, you must understand the value of AMWAY and in every undertaking there are sacrifices to be made. My uplines conducted product demonstrations and they also shared the benefits of food supplements, which convinced me to buy and try the products.
I was then invited to attend meetings where I increased my product knowledge and selling skill. From there on, my confidence grew and I went full-swing into selling, sponsoring and following up on my prospects during meetings.
Having realised the value and potential of AMWAY, I decided to make it my lifelong career. I started buying more products for my own use and made it a point to attend every meeting, which accelerated my self-development.
There are three key points to succeeding in AMWAY and they are:
(1) use the products yourself, (2) attend meetings and (3) share AMWAY with others.
To succeed in AMWAY, you must dare to dream, set specific goals and believe in yourself.
